Perhaps it's because I'm at the chrysalis stage of my second coming of age (midlife crisis), I'm often thinking about grief. Life and death are a given. I think maybe we human beings are lucky to live one life of many lives, and of little deaths before the final breath.
Josh O'Connor is brilliant in this, as a rumpled tomb-raiding archaeologist looking for the door to the other side where his lost love lives.

“Co-sign 1000x. They don’t make films like this anymore… except Alice Rohrwacher did in 2023. (Between La Chimera and Challengers, it’s only dirtbag Josh O’Connor for meeeeeee.)”

“is director Alice Rohrwacher's 2023 masterpiece about the way we long and search in the landscape after we have lost someone we love. What belongs to the living and what belongs to the dead? I love how she uses light and space in every shot. I saw this in theaters with the guy I was dating at the time; at the end of the movie, I was almost in tears but he didn't like it and that's how I knew it wo”
