Haaaa! This is great. An older woman on a local bird walk calls sparrows “LBJs”—“little brown jobs” because they’re often in mixed flocks, are various shades of browns, and take a bit of work to identify properly. Is that an immature white-crowned sparrow or golden-crowned sparrow or a white-throated sparrow? Get your bins and settle in!!!!
