Double or triple your estimates on the amount of exercise you think your new dog needs. Figure out ways to make walks enriching (sniff walks, new trails, etc). Keep a schedule. Make it fun for you too!

Agreed! Physical exercise and mental exercise help channel energy into positive activities. Mental exercise can look like training, food puzzles or games. We play hide and seek with treats in the apartment which makes him use his nose and provides a fun reward.
