Practical Magic (1998)

Practical Magic has captured my imagination since I first saw it back in the late 90s, well before a career in interior design was even a flicker of an idea.

A symphony of herbarium and botanical elements in the most whimsical seaside gingerbread Victorian structure. The kitchen is a master class of rugged functionality (Aga cooker) and millwork flourishes abound.

All credit goes to the utterly brilliant design team of Stephen Alesch and Robin Standefer (founders of Roman & Williams) who created the house exterior, interior sets, and many of the props for the film. Watch it at least twice - once for the fantastic cast and the second time to marvel at the atmospheric layers.
