One thing about me is that I love a voicey orphan novel; Big Swiss takes it to another level. Big Swiss is about a woman who transcribes therapy sessions who ends up becoming infatuated with one of the patients, who she calls Big Swiss. Every detail is strange and laugh-out-loud funny; the main character has a dog named Piñon, lives in a bee-infested house with her roommate who "seems French, but is not French," and works for a white therapist named Om. I was reading it at work during down time and it was dangerous because I kept choking on stifled laughter.

“the narrator is a transcriptionist, and the recordings are voiced by actors-- you hear what the narrator hears”
