days by deborah eisenberg (from her story collection)

A 40 page short story told in the form of a diary of a woman who quits smoking and takes up exercise. Spare and funny and so startingly relatable, it felt like it could have been written by one of my fellow misanthropic Gen Z/millenial peers instead of a woman born in 1945.

Devoted a bunch of time to “Days” on a recent anniversary getaway (sorry, hubs!)
