How’s he doing after his illness? I remember your request and hope he’s pulled through just fine :)

Thank you so much for asking, Clara! We are still in diagnostic limbo, but the doctors did finally decide to put it on a steroid to try and get his weight loss under control. We are waiting for results of a genetic test, called the PARR test to see if it can help identify what kind of inflammation his body is dealing with, they did fine needle aspiration during and ultrasound, three weeks ago. He seems to be doing overall better now that he is taking meds, as well as eating a biome prescription diet and a serious probiotic, and weekly B12 shot, but he isn’t gaining weight the way we were hoping and still has some diarrhea but he is also not losing more weight which I am over the moon about. We should be getting the results (which can once again be inconclusive) but maybe the vets will recommend a different treatment plan or dosage to see if we can have him feeling even better. Thank you again for asking about him!

So glad to hear he’s doing better on the whole 🫶 I’ll keep you both in my thoughts! Have you tried psyllium for GI issues btw? Also for what it’s worth my cat had FIP when she was little and the diet that I’ve found works best for her system is Koha Limited Ingredient Rabbit for wet and Open Farm Lamb for dry. Every cat is of course different but with her that’s seemed to truly and FINALLY clear up her GI symptoms!

We have not tried psyllium! I have only ever used it in baking. Thank you so much for sharing what worked for you, the world of cat food is endlessly complicated. What a strong little kitten you got there, so glad she is doing well! I will definitely ask the vet about psyllium.
