Okay so I have this theory I’ve been building for years about how in the early 2010s, every pop hit was about dying in the club. I don’t know if it was a 2012 apocalypse thing or a post-recession thing or another social force I haven’t considered. But I’m wondering if you guys can think of examples? The period I’m looking at is kinda 2008-2012. My top dying in the club song is Dynamite by Taio Cruz

My favorite from that era and…you’re right…
Hold still right before we crash 'cause we both know how this ends
A clock ticks 'til it breaks your glass and I drown in you again.

If our love is tragedy, why are you my remedy?
If our love's insanity, why are you my clarity?

Whoa I forgot about this song. Now this is interesting bc I would put it more in the toxic love/die for your love category, but obviously there’s a lot of crossover with dying in the club. I need to make some Venn diagrams
