The sort of place where time quietly stops mattering. I’ve lost more than a few nights here, settling in for “one drink” and resurfacing hours later, slightly disoriented and wondering how it’s suddenly 2am. It has that rare, Vegas-like quality of being able to loose your sense of time or bother looking at a clock. It has dim lighting, the perfect atmosphere of old New York, and just enough buzz that you never quite register the passing of time. You don’t go with a plan, and you definitely don’t leave when you meant to.

“Kate Berlant: I'm a Bowery girl. Friday night at the Bowery, you could find me in the back lobby area having seltzer, soup, and salad. It's heaven. Take me back to where there's joy.”
