Growing up in Massachusetts, the nostalgia of this movie burst me wide open. One of the most unassumingly poignant scenes for me was of an oscillating fan. It didn't do anything, just oscillated. It made me remember what it felt like to be bored as a child....we're too distracted to be bored nowadays. I used to watch the fan and listen to the sound. That was it.
Also, if you live in Vermont, the scene with the puppets reminds me so much of Bread + Puppet
