Keeps Home Architect Bed Frame: We ordered the Keeps Home Architect bed frame and side table for my latest client project, and I couldn’t be happier. Solid wood with clean finishes, and easy to assemble and take apart — it’s designed to move with you.

Tenon Table: I have the tenon dining table and absolutely love it. It arrived flat-packed, with wood glue and a beautiful wooden mallet for assembly. The exposed joints and different-shaped legs give it so much personality and playfulness. I also love the Silia chairs, but sadly they’re only taking bulk orders right now. What do you think, can we band together and get to 40 orders?

Thuma The Classic Bed: Apartment living requires a bed that isn’t hard to move. Enter the Thuma bed. The entire frame disassembles easily for moves across the street or across the country. Enough clearance underneath to store all of my winter clothes and extra bedding without looking lofted. Always feels stable, never squeaks.

IKEA: Hear me out--if you are careful with the search you can get some Really Good Stuff for a great price. We have a number of fantastic solid wood pieces that were a fraction of the cost of something else, plus of course the flatpacks meant we could get them delivered to our building (NYC at the time, now DC). Their wicker/rattan furniture is particularly excellent.

57st. design (made in Chicago): Can't speak more highly of 57st design - designed and made here in Chicago but you can order online. Everything they make is solid wood. Our dining table, coffee table (the one pictured) and a side table are from here. I feel like their prices are on par with big retail chains MDF furniture. Not cheap but they occasionally do 15% off sales. They also have a recirculating program where they'll buy back your things or you can buy refurbished items for cheaper. 10/10 the best.
