Tartufo: technically truffle hunting is a year round occupation, but it gives autumnal/early winter vibes to me. this one is cozy-adjacent and joyous; the town is so old and the characters so old school that it feels historical, even though it isn't.

it surprised me as one of my favorite reads last year!

The Secret History & A Secret History of Witches: Unintentionally (but delightfully) similar in title—these are the first two that come to mind. The Secret History is autumnal of spirit and setting, and History of Witches is more overt, but it will scratch the history itch I think since it moves through generations of characters.
