start a book club

-quarterly cadence so people have plenty of time to finish the book (and build excitement to see each other; it can be difficult for people to commit to gathering monthly)

-snacks & bevs potluck style (a theme can be fun)

-first hour or so is casual group yap while snacking, then assemble into a messy circle and take turns sharing thoughts/feelings/critiques

-ask the group who they would fancast in the movie version for a fun, low-stakes way to close out the discussion

-white elephant book swap is always a hit. bring a favorite book wrapped and walk away with a new read

-i co-host with a friend and we alternate hosting duties at our houses. our book club has been meeting for three years and it’s collectively everyone’s favorite day of the quarter
