What a Way to Go!, 1964
Larry Flint (Paul Newman) invents a machine that converts sound to painting. It all goes well until wife Louisa May (Shirley MacLaine) suggests that Flint replace his clanging, sirens and jackhammers with music. Well-known stars abound in this comic romp with glitzy production numbers.

@practicefield
reminds me of Desk Set with Katherine Hepburn. kind of a preemptive critique of artificial intelligence but like 1950s type that is perhaps up your alley

IBM was credited as advisors on that film!

“Shirley MacLaine is a star! Come for the costumes and diamonds but stay for the plot. This movie is basically about a woman who keeps accidentally becoming fabulously wealthy because her sexy husbands keep dying.”
