the "closing shift"

Recommended by Mo

in response to Maura

What simple, little things do you do for future you? I remember when I was in middle school, whenever I had a little extra time I’d look ahead at my homework and try to chip away at some of it. I’d think to myself “you’re welcome, future Maura—you’re going to be so happy to have that checked off!” Now that I’m responsible for multiple human beings, not just my future self, little joys like this have fallen by the wayside. What are your under-10-minute gifts for future you?

This became trend-ily known a couple years ago as the "closing shift." Basically after the kids have gone to sleep spending a few minutes tidying up all the toys and whatnot away. Helps keep you from having to do larger clean ups and also helps your home feel more "grown up" again during the evenings.
