Having a service instead of a full catholic mass

So our ceremony was like 30 minutes and had no communion. Half of our guests were not Catholic, so when we found out there was a non-full Mass option that was church-approved was great.

It meant no awkward what do the non-Catholics do during the communion moment, and we were able to have a deacon instead of a priest, so my friend's dad was the deacon who married us instead of a random priest we didn't have a meaningful relationship with. It did make the ceremony shorter and created a slightly longer gap between the ceremony and reception, but we had a Friday wedding, so it made it a little better for guests to avoid rush-hour traffic between locations.
