NorCal at it's finest! I'm a bit biased as I got married on the bluff overlooking the water at The Sea Ranch Lodge. My love for the place runs deep!
Our wedding party stayed at the Lodge (which I think has been somewhat recently updated?) but all the guests rented cool and quirky houses at The Sea Ranch, an architectural utopia designed in the '60s "to respond to – and live in harmony with – the natural elements."
Walking and biking trails, misty moody beaches with great tide pools, access to golf, tennis, and a community pool. Nearby redwood forests. Sheep meandering in the meadows. A short but epic Hwy 1 drive up to Mendocino. The list of fun active things to do goes on, though you might just want to hang on a deck watching the Pacific Ocean.
March might also mean super-bloom wild flower action! A great time for a Northern California visit and a great place for an intergenerational birthday celebration.
NB: Obviously SFO is easy to get to. The drive from SFO to The Sea Ranch is gorgeous with amazing places to stop along the way; some routes are a bit easier than others, but there are multiple options!
