Many, including myself, believe public education is a cornerstone of democracy. As birth rates decrease, but all community members feel the impact of a failing democracy, being involved in local politics is more important than ever - especially at the school level.
Here in Chicago, we are entering in phase 2 of a fully democratically elected school board. PACs and billionaire influence are heavily weighing in - concerned about what results could mean for the school privatization movement. Meanwhile, most schools in Chicago do not still have a library or a full-time nurse.
I encourage you to check out how you can be involved in your community!
