Milford Sound Overnight Cruise

New Zealand really is California on steroids. Great people and natural beauty. Wānaka and Milford Sound are lovely if you make it to the south island. Up north, Rotorua has tons of family friendly activities. Have the best time!

take the train to katoomba for stunning hiking

could do as a long day trip but we stayed overnight in a cute old hotel. so simple to hop on a train in sydney and ride out to beautiful hiking trails. katoomba is positively swarming with parrots that really pipe up around sunset. some pictures to persuade you:

Awesome playground/installation at the Art Gallery of NSW. Made entirely from repurposed bits and pieces, has a cafe and water play. Awesome rainy day activity. We loved it.

Kaikoura is a dark sky reserve, so there are strict regulations on light and noise pollution. That means it’s one of the best places in the world for stargazing. Incredible incredible incredible.

McIver’s Ladies Baths

Historic ocean baths for women from a time when seeing a bit of bare ankle sent men into a frenzy. Incredible natural landscape and impeccable vibes. Run by volunteers. If it’s not warm enough to swim, a towel and a book is all you need.
