House of Leaves (Mark Z. Danielewski)
Recommended by Marika
I don’t think there has ever been or will be a book like this. I saw Mark Danielewski speak and it was weird that he’s just a regular guy.

“This is a polarizing one. It’s just terrifying and visceral. I’m not an avid reader but I’d be very interested in finding a book that makes me feel this way.”

“I like a book that fights me every step of the way”

“A creepy book-within-a-report-within-a-journal, starring a house that's bigger on the inside. Also, you have to turn the book upside down to read some of it. A forerunner to Backrooms? Like found footage, but a novel. Proper spooky.”
