A perfect weekday evening: start at the top of the Lyon St Steps, take some beautiful photos of the view, maybe go partially down, just to experience it.
Afterward, pop into the Presidio and walk along Wood Line. Don’t take photos, enjoy the view! When it ends, walk west onto Lover’s Lane, and follow it until you’re on the boardwalk in MacArthur Meadow. Stay still. Listen. If it’s early, you’ll hear birds in the line of Eucalyptus. If it’s nearing dusk, you’ll may hear the song of pacific chorus frogs underfoot.
Depending on time til dark and your willingness to walk, you can traipse through the buildings in the Presidio toward the Yoda Fountain at Lucasfilm and the pond and making your way to the Palace of Fine Arts.
Tired? Head back up the way you came, or double down for a hike up Lyon St Steps.
For a night view of Golden Gate Bridge, hop over to the Main Parade Lawn and walk down to Tunnel Tops.
No plans for tomorrow? Walk all the way way to Crissy Field.

“A reminder to smell California. Lover's Lane is just a nice short walk up or down a hill, among dramatic, towering trees, and nearby is Andy Goldsworthy's Wood Line, a sculpture of zigzagging, felled tree trunks lining the path of a Eucalyptus forest.”
