Idaho isn’t typically terribly high on people’s lists, but I will tell you—I will never forget driving from mountains and rivers of western Idaho into a landscape so extraterrestrial as the aptly named Craters of the Moon National Monument. Created from volcanic activity, you can hike across lava flows, into caves, and onto cinder cones. At night, peer into starry skies.

I love Idaho; absolutely spectacular. Headed back in a couple of months and v. excited to finally visit Craters of the Moon (one of the reasons we planned this trip, b/c we missed it last time).
