Wild Dark Shore by Charlotte McConaghy
This is what I call a "One-Day Book," a book that's so good and engrossing, once you start it, you can't do anything but sit and read until you finish it. This book combines survival, family lore and drama, coming of age, science, and scientific ethics, which all sounds totally at odds with one another, but somehow works perfectly. This book will stick with you.
