This is an old Gretchen Rubin trick that I live by: if you see clutter in one area of your home and you know it has an assigned place that is a little further away, pick it up and move it closer. You don’t have to go the full mile and put it away, just move it to a table in the room it belongs in, for example. Treat it like transferring trains. “Ok, item, you’ve left your original station and now you’re heading to the next juncture. I promise you’ll make it home eventually.” For some reason, breaking up clutter cleaning into bite-size tasks really works for me.
(The picture here is really condescending but I’ve decided I'm keeping it. Maybe I’ll move it to something more closely aligned later. 😂)
