Having a dedicated zone that is your dogs safe place is something I rec all my dog training clients.
A dog bed or a crate or a mat where they can choose to go whenever they please and have space to feel safe and have nothing being asked of them. Maybe it’s the couch! They’ll tell you what they prefer. But incase they need to chillax elsewhere and you don’t want them on the couch... Condition this space to be where good things happen, treats fall from the sky, etc. IMO dogs are empaths so if you’re worked up stressed out so will they. Practice co regulation and bring calmness into this zone! Don’t throw treats at them. Calmly place.
Also, being in a room and not knowing where to go can be stressful. Bring a mat, or a folded up blanket with you so that they have somewhere they can see that is a place for them. Especially helpful at meal times or while you’re cooking.
