What A Devastating Turn of Events by Rachel Chinouriri

I frequently fall into slumps of listening to the same songs and albums over and over again. Nothing wrong with that, but I would like to put in more effort in discovering and enjoying new art as much as possible.

I came across this album a while back, completely by chance, and it was a really delightful discovery. What A Devastating Turn of Events, I think, has something for everyone. It has upbeat tracks that brought me back to my childhood discovering Brit pop for the first time, and it has more heartfelt confessional tracks that are blanketed in melancholia. Rachel sings beautifully in every track and infuses so much personality into each song, and I love how nostalgic the sound is without feeling dated.

Five stars for me!
