Barry Lyndon (1975)

Steven Weill

“Just about the most beautiful movie ever shot to film. The immaculate composition, intricate set pieces, serene countryside all serve as a perfect foil to the lead's hollow trajectory.”

“this scene in barry lyndon -specifically lady lyndon’s fur trimmed look is burned into my brain”

Rachel Jacobson

“Saw this at Film Streams’ Ruth Sokolof Theater in Omaha. It was glorious on the big screen. Like a visit to the Met. Every frame a masterful painting. It really only works if you’re immersed. Some movies are ok on your laptop. Rarely can I watch anything on a phone. This is one of those you haven’t seen until you watch it properly— in a theater, with an audience.”
