Talking openly about chronic illness
Hey buddies. I realized yesterday it has officially been 3 years since I got long covid. I just wanted to say that I originally joined this app because @Darcy Groves told me it would be a helpful place to get chronic illness recs, and obviously it’s been a lot of other things to me as well, but it’s definitely fulfilled Darcy’s promise. It’s been really great to be able to talk about chronic illness on here (including chronic mental illness #ocdinfluencer). Online can be so evil, but it can also be so lovely, and I think this particular digital community space is really special.

Yes yes! It's so important to speak about it. I was disabled from Long Covid for four years--two of which I was pretty much housebound. Small graces, it was before twitter became a cesspool, and I got so much good information from the activists there. So happy to be a part of the community here and share whatever I can! LC in particular can be really isolating as it can take away a lot of your ability to advocate for yourself.
I'm physically recovered now (minus my photographic memory and speed reading ability, still hoping those pop back into existence one day) but solidarity forever. 💙 If there's an LC or chronic illness room I can contribute to, I have a *lot* of recs.
Some hope from the other side: even though I had to leave my film career and New York, I met my wife in San Francisco and am now a writer, and we're all pretty happy.
