Just tried Nurtec for a migraine and… holy shit. I think I’m done with triptans. If you get migraines, you get to complain. Those are the rules. When one hits, I want to punch God in the face. I think if god gave us migraines, he also gave us the medicine of complaining. Being seen. Being heard. Sometimes that’s part of surviving it. And also, I think complaining has been demonized the way gossiping has. It’s just patriarchy forcing women to be quiet in another language. 😂 ok I rlly went off here.

Oh yeah I think relating complaining to gossiping is so smart!!! Bc it def is somewhat feminized?? Also I feel so seen bc when I have a migraine I am often saying “why did god give me a headache??” Nurtec’s helping?? I actually have it rn too, but I’m not sure that it’s doing anything — lately none of the emergency meds really help me. But I tried zofran/nurtec combo yesterday

For whatever reason, Nurtec is helping mine, but there are so many different causes of migraines. Mine tend to happen around ovulation and my period, so I wonder if there’s an inflammatory or hormonal component. But they can also be triggered by tension, blood sugar, dehydration, low sodium… who knows. I wish I could help. They’re the worst. I also always feel like I must have done something wrong to cause it. But I think migraines have a way of making you retrace every step, trying to solve the mystery while you’re in so much pain. Motrin dual action works sometimes if I catch it early enough. Some friends have success with caffeine treatments and Botox. Ok we should have a migraine thread

A wild new theory of DMT therapy curing migraines forever was just brought up by a friend. 😂 I’m just not a drug person.

Yeahhh I’ve had chronic migraines for like 7 years but since I got long covid the interaction between the two is just so hard to track and unfortunately medicine is always so siloed so it’s hard to look at it all holistically. Thank you ❤️❤️ I just tried a different monthly injectable for this month, but we’ll probably try Botox after that And ya it’s so annoying with chronic health stuff how my first thought is always how did i cause this when that’s not really what’s going on at all

So true. Lately when I feel one start I ask the migraine what it wants. And wait for an answer (in my head), sometimes it’s take a nap or stop looking at screens, sometimes it’s literally “I need sugar”, I’ve been surprised by how much it helps… not every time. But atleast it keeps me in a helpful dialogue with it. There’s probably so much trauma around it to unpack and I have done that too but tbh it didn’t help with the pain. In my case. I’ve had migraines since I was 6… over 30 years. You know I’ve tried it all. Feel better! 😘

Oooh maybe I’ll try that. I was just thinking maybe sugar was making mine worse which I do NOT like to consider. And oh man since you were six :( I hope the nurtec keeps working!!!!
