Fairwater (Alastair Reid) (1957)

Found this as a child in the stacks at the enchanted fairy glen that is Rodgers Book Barn in Hillsdale, NY. In florid yet cheeky language, with scrappy yet intricate illos, a story unfolds in which a prince loves a girl so much that he blows a glass bubble around her and pushes her through the dang ocean for eternity! Also got that tattoo, but I let the guy doing it drink Jack Daniels and ash his cigarette on my open wound, so it’s not my best.
