The weird cozy parents in this book- circus-y kooks who embarrass their normie son- are my idea of #goals. Balloon pants before they had a name. Unappealing snacks and maniacal ginger perms. Very 80s/90s cusp. I used to try and make my mother sleep in a fort made of sheets with me and stand on her head because of this book’s influence.
