Tuck things away

Number one rule of a clean house! If something can be tucked away - in a closet, in a drawer, in a cabinet - consider it tucked! If it cannot be tucked away, the rules are: peel off its label OR put it in a jar or basket. I don't make the rules, I just follow them!
