Love Joys "Lovers Rock Reggae Style"

Love Joys, was a very short lived group made up of cousins of Jamaican descent who landed in the Bronx by way of London. Lovers Rock Reggae Style is arguably one of the greatest reggae records ever made.

Recorded on the Wackie’s label that was founded in the Bronx by Jamaican-born Lloyd “Bullwackie” Barnes, who slowly built the studio with money he’d made working construction. The limited resources helped shape the label’s heavy, atmospheric sound.

The Love Joys combine lovers rock with the Wackie’s  strange, deep production to create something completely singular.  Best enjoyed after smoking a big spliff.
