Will Patton reads Lonesome Dove

If I say “Will Patton” the name may not mean much to you. But take a gander at his face and you’ll say “Oh YEAH, that guy from that thing.” A character actor in over 50 films, I can tell you hands down his best performance is his reading of Larry McMurtry’s epic. I would listen to the audio book in the car and then read the physical book before bed, which helped me make my way through the 984 pages at a steadier pace. Patton embodies each character, humanizing their voices with expert dexterity. His “Gus” sounds exactly like Robert Duvall, a brilliant trick for the Lonesome Dove invested (Duvall played Gus in the much beloved mini series). An excellent and less intimidating way to ease into the novel.
