Why you should take this rec into consideration: I am a gemologist, jewelry appraiser, vintage and antique fine jewelry dealer.
For starters: UGH yes, I originally found this while browsing Amazon, and yes, these boxes are sold by two different Alphabet Soup named companies (that may or may not be the same company?) They say they're made of North American walnut, but not where they're made. Those are the negatives.
Onto the positives: I found mine being resold new-in-box for less than retail on eBay (so you can, too.) There are a number of variations; different drawer configurations and storage selections. It's worth considering - some of these lean better for earring collectors, others for watch enthusiasts.
The box has a lock and key. I added a nicer tassel to my key than was provided with the box. The top opens up to reveal a mirror. The sides open to storage compartments for earrings and necklaces (unrelated rec: most of my necklaces live on a pair of old ceramic glove molds; this is an elite display/organization method.)
There are a number of drawers with different compartments, including a sizable ring section. The materials are nice, the construction is solid. It doesn't feel cheap, it's good quality. In a pinch, you can lock it up and safely transport it from point A to B.
My favorite thing about this box is its capacity. It is enough space for a larger collection of pieces of jewelry. Lots of gorgeous jewelry boxes simply do not afford the room for everything and some of us like to keep our collections in one place.
