Mandalay (San Francisco): Burmese food is pretty uncommon in other major cities so I love to bring visitors to Mandalay. My staples here are the Tea Leaf Salad (pictured), Special Mandalay Noodles, and Samusa Soup.

The vibe is really colorful and fun and if you get Shelley as your waiter, she’s the sweetest.

Some other ideas: Anchovy Bar or Greens.
