be optimistic and just keep trying

I am sheepish on my whole collection here. Even though I'm in a relationship that makes me really happy right now, I've also been single for years. It's tough to be optimistic when the world often makes you feel like there is absolutely no one out there.

Heather Havrilesky of Ask Polly writes about this feeling often, and I particularly love this piece of hers, written to a 33 year old woman feeling this way. We just have one life. We might not get everything we want when we want it. But we can keep trying anyways. What's the alternative?
