working non-profit boards require regular meetings, ample volunteer shifts, and seeing the same group of goofballs over and over again many times. You increase the number of people you're meeting ten fold.

I also found getting deeply involved in a beloved org in my community - Art Shanty Projects, for any Twin Cities folks - piqued a lot of people's interests (the spark to a convo with one guy I dated for six months)
