Lots of little New England lakes and swimming holes

I recently used the Airbnb feature to filter by views, and I think there is a similar one for on the water, and it’s so great for when you don’t have a specific place in mind.

If that’s all booked you can center around cool towns that have great swimming holes nearby (Reddit can help you find the swimming spots). Ludlow, Woodstock or Burlington VT; Shelburne Falls, Amherst, and Northampton MA are all great.

I think there are a few small lakes tucked into the northwest corner of CT. And the Maine ocean may be chilly but the lakes should be decent by August.

Oh, and some NE beach towns that aren’t as nutty: Stonington, CT, Bristol, RI, and Westport, MA.

Summer in New England is magical, sometimes it just takes some digging and perhaps a little hop down a trail.
