What's part of your self-care routine to prepare for contentious events? I.e. if you must be somewhere for 2-5 days and know that it may be stressful, emotional, or difficult, what do you do to prepare?

i don’t really want to answer when i am having a child to my moms friends i only see 1 time a year. saying something like “you’ll be the first to know when i decide” somewhat sarcastically perhaps helps me mentally prep.
