“Years ago I went to see a show of his at a museum. His work is so powerful it moved me to tears. I don’t have one specific painting to recommend, his entire oeuvre is phenomenal.”

“Kerry James Marshall’s work inspires me through its commitment to centering Black presence within art history. His paintings address historical absence by depicting Black life with complexity, dignity, and visibility. I admire how he engages art historical traditions while simultaneously critiquing exclusion, creating work that functions as both representation and historical correction.”
