the time of your life
Recommended by Johnny Yi
“In the time of your life, live—so that in that wondrous time you shall not add to the misery and sorrow of the world, but shall smile to the infinite delight and mystery of it. Seek goodness everywhere, and when it is found, bring it out of its hiding place, and let it be conspicuous and unsuspected."
I stumbled on Saroyan in college and found his work poignant and nostalgic - though not necessarily for the past - more like nostalgic for a different, more hopeful perspective.

I just added the movie to my watchlist based on this quote alone— beautiful!! Thank you!
One of my favorite movies is Dead Poets Society. It gives me a similar feeling of that unnamed nostalgia, there is a heaviness but somehow lightness, an overall ache of beauty, and genuine warmth. Some movies just really impact your outlook on life.

Oh I’ve never seen the movie but I want to check it out too now. I’ve only read the play.

And yes to Dead Poets Society! I only saw it once in the theater when I was in high school. I may rewatch it tonight.

Oh I assumed you were talking about the movie (from what I read it is an 1940s adaptation of the William Saroyan play). So maybe I’ll have to watch and read them both now. Let me know what you think about Dead Poets Society!
