Gott’s Law: We Are Probably About Halfway Through It
Recommended by Joe
If you are observing a singular and ongoing process, like (say) whatever is going on in your life right now, and you’re wondering how long it’s going to last, your best guess in the absence of any other information is to assume that it’s going to continue for about as long as it’s been going on so far. You can guess that you’re probably about halfway through the tunnel if you can’t see the end.
This can be good news or bad news, depending, and sometimes your best guess isn’t very good anyway.

This feels like a law that quietly reveals more about you than we might want to admit. Very glass half full vs. half empty.

Is this the same law that guides how long a Thing will be around? For example, books? Probably a good while longer. TikTok - likely not so long. Hopefully.
