People often use the word “madness” when talking about comedy, but they don’t usually mean it like this. Fouracres can do a sort of mania and speed that seems bound to jump off of the rails (and sometimes does at the punchline.)
It works. I suspect careful attention to rhetoric and sound is a key part of making it work: singing and dialect sound “faster” than they are, so we can feel the bumps in the road but don’t get thrown off too early.
