Nothing is more 1990’s, by which I mean nothing is more about dealing with the 1950’s than “Tales from the Crypt”, a twisted triple time warp trying to untangle itself. Created by the most powerful producers in Hollywood, it featured a-list guest stars, a-list directors and America’s favorite animatron, all trying to figure out how they ended up middle aged. It was a much more complex but ultimately a healthier response to 1989 than buying a Camero.
In addition to being a strange time capsule of America metabolizing its own childhood it’s also just a terrific show. It’s a crime that it has been so hard to find on streaming. The link is to a SD version on Tubi, which lower fidelity than it deserves, but we have to take what we can get, kiddies!

“Thanks to bad babysitters, I first saw this when I was maybe 7? It scared me so badly I never forgot that murderous beauty pageant episode. Now, it’s finally streaming and thank goodness for my Shudder subscription. Pure gold. It’s mindblowing how many truly great actors and directors were involved.”
