Cinematographer deconstructs THAT shot in “Contact”

I know! I also really liked the detail that as they opened up the lens to keep the exposure consistent when she’s running down the hallway, that also had the side effect of shallowing the focus on her face—certainly not something I had ever noticed, but it’s perfect. (Also just in general that even when I know what’s coming, the end of that shot still feels like an incredible magic trick. Just seamless execution.)
