The Beths, Straight Line Was a Lie (2025)
Recommended by jmd
Realizing only just recently that there was a new Beths record in 2025 was why I decided I really needed something to for God’s sake please tell me when that happens. As usual, it’s fantastic, just wall-to-wall terrifically catchy pop-rock. This band can do no wrong.

I esp. love "Mosquitos" on this album!

The whole thing is so good, I was like nodding along with every song going like, "Yep, that's a banger...yep, this one too...yep, this one too." (Although actually, bangers aside, I also particularly liked the simple, hypnotic little repeating guitar figure of "Mother, Pray for Me".)

When she plays that one live, there are a lot of sniffles in the crowd; a real tear-jerker.
