From the album No Poets (2023)
"Outsider folk" is the go to descriptor for the aloof, dusty sound of Lower Plenty, who evoke Melbourne at it's most charmingly disheveled in their songs and stories (the band's name is an outer suburb of said city). There's so much more to their deceptively simple songs however and No Poets is perhaps the bands most fully realised album. Blue Shadows has a crackling energy, a short sharp strummer that's tinged with post-punk paranoia and big city anxiety.
A band that always reminds me of my time living in Melbourne for a lot of reasons. Mostly it's in the sound.
