Auto-Loading Utility Knife

Keep one of these in the kitchen junk drawer, so frickin’ handy. Boxes and clamshell packages have no chance. Deeply satisfying to take out a dull blade and then, snik-snak, new blade appears! Lil tip: when you flip a blade around because one end got dull, put a sharpie “X” on the bad end so you know the whole blade is spent next time you go to flip it.

We live in the kitchen, so a pen & notebook also lives with us in the kitchen as a catch-all “House Admin” surface. Perfect to jot down notes about phone calls, quick to-do lists, or funny shit that came up at dinner.

A personal food critic

Kitchen recommendation: a lil’ critic. Mine is a rescued betta named Sir Couscous. His qualifications are unclear, but his standards are not. Since his appointment, the quality of my cooking has improved considerably. *Additional recommendation: painter's tape and a Sharpie. Label leftovers, mystery sauces, and anything you confidently assume you'll remember later Warning: Gary Larson comic pictured, not Sir Couscous
