I grew all these tulips and daffs from bulbs from Johnnys! Buy them now, and they will ship out in October. Some thoughts/tips:
Repurchase in the spring when your tulips and daffs are blooming! Purchasing in the spring will give you the best selection of bulbs. I always spend way too much and then forget I even ordered and October comes around and it’s a happy surprise!!!
Johnnys allows you to buy in different quantities, and if you buy more, the bulbs are cheaper! Buy a bigger pack and gift some to friends for a thanksgiving gift!
Are you wanting to grow for landscaping or for cut flowers? If for cuts, you can buy a bunch of tulip bulbs and plant them like eggs in a carton aka you can buy a lot of bulbs!!!
If looking for landscape, look for tulips that naturalize well and will be more likely to perennialize.
Looking at what’s still available at Johnny’s, I’m loving apricot pride, akebono, password, and pink star!!
In terms of daffs, I love all the doubles. Johnnys has some good collections like the late narcissus set. Look for some that are early, middle, and then late bloomers and have daffs all season long! (Same goes for tulips!)
Okay last tip- did you know you can pull tulips up with the bulb and store them in your fridge for a while? Just cut off the bulb and pop them in water and bam! Revived!
Okay way more info than you asked but I feel passionate about people buying spring bulbs, okay?!
